A POPULAR horse show is being resurrected on Anglesey after a break of four years.

The Llanddona and Beaumaris Horse and Pony Show was last held back in 2013.

Now, the event is to be held again at the Bryn Glas field, Llanddona, on Saturday, August 25.

The show includes classes in junior and senior riding, hand showing, working hunters, show jumping, clear round, gymkhana and there will be trade stands.

Isle of Anglesey County Councillor Carwyn Elias Jones has taken over as chairman, following the death of Cllr. Richard Lewis Owen, "Richard Bryn Glas," as he was well known, and who died in 2015.

Cllr Jones said: "It gives me huge pleasure as the new chairman of the Llanddona and Beaumaris Horse and Pony Show to invite everyone to our 44th show. Taking up the role was a huge honour as I try to follow in the footsteps of a very special person, the late Richard Lewis Owen.

"It is timely to recognise and appreciate the immense contribution by 'Richard Bryn Glas' towards the show, his passion, determination and love towards it should be cherished and remembered forever."

Seceratry Miriam Williams, also replaces former secretary Mrs K.B. Williams.

She said: "I am delighted that the show is taking place once more and I am able to substantiate my promise to Richard L Owen.

"It is with great sadness that I have to acknowledge the loss of our hardworking former secretary Mrs K B Williams who had been part of the show for a number of years.

"The show has been very popular over the years and the committee have been praised for the homely and friendly welcome and a show that’s full of fun, which has always been the show's ethos.

"The committee has now grown in numbers with an exceptional team working together. Let’s hope it’s a success once more. I look forward to welcoming new and old friends. Fingers crossed the sun will be shining on us on the 25th."

The gates open at 8am and judging starts at 9.30am. Admission to the field is £3 or £1children and OAPs and competitors enter free. The entry fee per class on the day is £7.50 or £5 beforehand. There is also free car parking and refreshments.
