A man was found to have serious injuries when a car was stopped by police on Friday night.
Dyfed-Powys Police received a call at about 11.45pm relating to serious concerns about the behaviour and welfare of a man who was believed to have left the Hay on Wye area in a car.
The car was stopped on the A470 at the Storey Arms Centre, near Brecon.
The man required urgent medical attention for injuries he had sustained, and an ambulance took him to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
An investigation is now underway and Dyfed-Powys Police has referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
