OLD friends and old rivals will meet up again in the Vale of Clwyd later this week.

This Friday, August 3, Huws Gray Alliance Ruthin Town will entertain top flight Bala Town at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Kick-off will be at 7.30pm.

This will be a big test for the home club in what will be their last friendly before they start their Huws Gray Alliance campaign at Holywell Town on August 10.

Ruthin Town chairman Paddy Carney said: “We’re grateful to Colin Caton and to Bala for coming down for our last friendly of the season.

"It’s great to have a club who have recently played in Europe down here and we are all looking forward to giving them a warm welcome.”

Ruthin are expecting a large crowd and the game will give them an opportunity to showpiece the ground improvement work that was completed at the end of last year.

Manager Chris Williams said: “It’s always difficult during pre-season as we have a lot of lads who play Summer League and they need a rest.

"We have also had a few injuries.

"Players like Llyr Morris, Ilan Hughes and Kev Evans have played little or no part in pre-season, but it has given me a chance to have a close look at the new signings.

"I’m delighted with the way everyone has worked during pre-season and I’m really happy with the squad.

"It’s great to have Bala down here and we’re all looking forward to the match.”

Whilst Llyr Morris, Ilan Hughes and Kevin Evans are unlikely to feature against Bala, manager Williams is hopeful that defender Tom Roberts will make a welcome return.
