A VOLUNTEER group from Machynlleth has received a prestigious award.

Community Action Machynlleth and District (CAMAD) received the Powys Volunteer Award for an Organisation in the Health and Wellbeing Category.

The ceremony was hosted by Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO) and held in the Strand Hall in Builth Wells.

Linda Hayward, CAMAD’s manager, Gordon Hughes, secretary and founder member of CAMAD, and volunteers Elaine Moore, who has been with the charity for 12 years, and Paddy McKillop were there to pick up the award.

Manager Linda Hayward said: “I was amazed when our foot care volunteer Angela Edwards told me she had nominated CAMAD for an award, and even more flabbergasted when we won,.

“There were so many deserving organisations there it took a while to sink in at first.

“We celebrate our 20th year supporting the residents of Machynlleth and the Dyfi Valley in July this year so this award is a great thank you to all who have helped us to provide our services over that time.”
