IN A bid to raise funds for a covered seating area at Llys Hafren Care Home’s garden, manager, Bea Wickstead will have seen the dawn breaking from the top of Snowdon this morning.

She is taking part in a Midnight Walk up Wales’ highest peak on Saturday, June 23 and

Bea explained: “I think it’s been well documented over the last few years how tight funding is in social care.

“Something like this, a covered seating area for the garden, will enhance the lives of our residents and their families and friends, but unfortunately we need to raise funds for these things.

“I feel passionately that this type of arbour would enhance the quality of life and also for the friends and families of our residents.

“Many are unable to get out so, having this area, where you can enjoy being outside or have a meal or afternoon tea is good for their wellbeing.

“We’ve had it costed at between £3,500 to £5,000 and have raised £500 so far.

Bea added: “I think doing a midnight walk is something different, I do like walking but I’m a bit scared as you won’t be able to see properly where you’re going.

“I’ve been before but in the daytime, I’m looking forward to sitting on the top and seeing the first rays of dawn.”
