A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash near Newtown on Sunday morning.
Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses following the road traffic collision involving a BMW motorbike which closed the A483 road for several hours.
Road Traffic Police who saw a group of motorcyclists had been concerned by their manner of driving and stopped them.
However the BMW motorcyclist who was one of the lead bikers failed to stop for the police, and crashed on bends soon afterwards.
A Police spokeswoman confirmed that officers had not been pursuing the biker when he crashed.
The collision happened on Upper Dolfor Road - between Newtown and Dolfor - shortly before 10.15am on Sunday, June 17.
Ambulance attended and the man driving was taken to hospital with broken bones and a collapsed lung
The road was re-opened at 3.30pm.
Officers are investigating and appealing for witnesses who saw the BMW motorbike, registration number, HV64 CCK, before the collision.
