FIREFIGHTERS from Newtown Fire Station climbed to the summit of Snowdon for charity, while carrying a fire and rescue ladder.

The aim of the challenge was to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides life-enhancing services to the fire and rescue community.

Newtown Watch Manager Dave Latham said, “This was a new and exciting challenge for the crew which will hopefully generate as much money as possible for The Fire Fighters Charity.

"We began our expedition at Llanberis in the morning. "The crew have trained and planned meticulously for this event and everyone involved worked so hard to get the #Laddertothetop during the hot weather conditions.

"On behalf of the crew members involved, I would like to give a special thanks to all the friends and families of Fire Service personnel for their support on the day, not to forget the achievement of the Fire Cadets who also joined us every step of the way.

"The support given by members of public was overwhelming and the reception we received on reaching the summit was truly amazing and a once in a lifetime experience."

The running costs of The Fire Fighters charity are over £9 million a year, which is almost entirely funded through donations from the fire community and public.

We would greatly appreciate your support through a donation, however big or small, to such an important charity. Please visit the Newtown Fire Station's Ladder Carry to the Summit of Snowdon – Just Giving Page or text FSTN99 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070.”
