VACANT town council seats on Anglesey have now been filled following two by-elections on Thursday.
Polls were held in both the Parc a’r Mynydd ward on Holyhead Town Council and the Rural ward on Amlwch Town Council due to the resignations of the former sitting members.
Labour’s Glyn Haynes, an Anglesey county councillor, will now also sit on Holyhead Town Council following his success in the Parc a’r Mynydd by-election.
Replacing fellow county councillor Shaun Redmond, who resigned from the town council earlier this year, he defeated independent candidate Cadi Evanson.
Meanwhile, in Rural Amlwch, there were only two votes in it as Carys Cranston, who stood for Plaid Cymru in the 2017 county council election, edged out John Ieuan Davies.
Results in full:
Holyhead – Parc a’r Mynydd ward
Cadi Evanson 87
Glyn Haynes (Labour) 143 (Elected)
Amlwch Rural ward
Carys Cranston 75 (Elected)
John Ieuan Davies 73
