AN AFTERNOON concert of harp music and dance will be presented by harpist Eleri Lloyd at the Mid Wales Arts Centre, Caersws, this Sunday, May 20, from 2pm, with easels provided at the back of the hall giving an opportunity to draw the action.

Drawing and painting to music has proven to be both fun and relaxing.

Earlier, from 11.30am, there will be the heavenly sound of harps coming from the heavenly landscape of Mid Wales with Harpistry, a group of harpists, formed in 2015 who are all pupils of Eleri Lloyd, ranging in age from the young in body to the young in heart while their abilities range from beginners to the more advanced levels.

They play all different sorts of harps - both lever and pedal - and their repertoire encompasses a wide range of music from traditional folk songs to the classical. The idea is to encourage individual players to develop their playing skills by learning to play in a group with other harpists.

Last year they were invited to give a fundraising concert as part of the Harlech Parish Church Summer Festival in North Wales where they were joined by a group of talented young dancers, taught by Harpistry member Angela Roberts.

These young dancers will be joining the group again on Sunday and their talent and enthusiasm will be a treat to look forward to.

One of the members of Harpistry is Gay Roberts,, resident harpist at Mid Wales Arts Centre events.

Local folk group Ffionic will also be playing between 4.15 and 6pm.

The Welsh Group 70th anniversary exhibition by 12 object makers from BBK Kunstforum Dusseldorf also officially opens at 3pm and Sculpture Cymru’s annual exhibition and children’s sculpture trail are in the grounds.

The events are open to the public. Contact the Arts Centre on office@midwalesarts.org.uk or tel: 07970 671819/01686 688369.
