A LITTLE girl from Newtown has raised more than £500 after donating her hair for charity.

Ruby-Lou Pearse, aged six, decided to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust after watching their YouTube videos.

The Maesyrhandir schoolgirl had eight inches of hair cut at Blayney’s Academy in Newtown.

Her hair will go towards helping other little girls who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment.

The charity provides wigs from real-hair for children and young people who have cancer and other conditions. It can take specialist wig manufacturers between seven and 10 individual donations to make a single wig.

Ruby-Lou joins the growing list of supporters such as the Duchess of Cambridge who donated her famous locks to the trust last year.

The total raised so far from generous donations is £512.

“We are so proud of her. She was chuffed!” says Ruby-Lou’s dad, Ben.

“We would like to thank everyone who has donated and also to Kelly Blayney of Blayney’s Academy for the haircut.”
