NEWTOWN pianist and composer Dan Lambert is to play at Rock Mill when it opens its gardens again as part of the National Garden Scheme this weekend, May 19 and 20.

Dan will be playing a selection of classical and contemporary music, including some of his own compositions, at Rock Mill on the Kerry Road, outside Abermule, which will be open between 2 and 5pm on each day.

Last year more than 300 people attended, with nearly £2,500 raised for the designated NGS charities, such as Macmillan Nurses and Hospice UK.

Offering riverside and woodland walks, the gardens include lawns, orchards, terraces and borders, with activities ranging from interactive quiz and information sheets to treasure hunt, croquet and sunken trampoline.

Teas with homemade and Sidoli cakes are available. There will also be a plant stall and, on Sunday only, a marquee commemorating World Bee Day, staffed by the Montgomeryshire Beekeepers Association.

Admission to the open garden event costs £4, with accompanied children free.
