ONE of the biggest events on the Welsh footballing calendar is at Latham Park, Newtown today where Connahs Quay Nomads and Aberystwyth Town go head-to-head for the JD Welsh Cup.
The Nomads aim to win the silverware for the first time in their history and the Seasiders look to lift the trophy for the first time since 1900.
This is the fifth time that Newtown has hosted the Welsh Cup final. Aberystwyth Town’s one and only Welsh Cup success came in Newtown during the 1899/1900 season.
With some top Welsh acts and an RAF parachute display, the pre-match entertainment is not to be missed.
1.30pm–2pm - Alex Davies
The Newtown-based ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star will be singing some of his new tracks.
2pm-2.30pm – BBC Horizons/Gorwelion
Eadyth, an up and coming singer and electronic producer in the Welsh music scene will give a live performance of her latest songs.
2.30pm – Royal Air Force
To mark its centenary year, a parachute drop by the RAF’s Parachute Display Team, The Falcons who will be landing the match ball as part of their display.
2.40pm – National Anthem
Welsh tenor Huw Ynyr will sing ‘Mae Hen Wlad Fy’n Nhadau’.
2.45pm – Kick-off
The 131st JD Cup Final kicks-off between Connahs Quay Nomads and Aberystwyth Town.
