LITTLE has changed at the Manor over the winter months.

Bishops Castle go into the second division campaign with the same old guard leading the fight to stay in the league.

Castle can look forward to renewing old rivalries with Montgomery this season but will their rivals have targeted a return to the first division the main aim at Castle is consolidation.

Richard Plant will captain Castle with support from Tom Moulder as vice captain.

Both will look to for runs from Richard Whateley and Richard Fifield while the bowling attack will be led by the usual suspects in Simon Palmer and Steve Morris.

Fifield top scored with the bat last season, amassing 387 runs for the cause with Plant making 271.

Meanwhile all rounder Moulder made 298 runs and also took 28 wickets to go into 2018 as a key player for the border club.

Richard Powell will also be expected to lead the Castle bowling attack after claiming 28 wickets last season.

Bowlers George Rayment and Jack Perry also underlined their credentials with decent hauls last season.

Meanwhile the club’s second string will be led by Morris and Palmer with the aim of ensuring the club continued to build for the future.

Morris said: “We have had no comings and goings and it is very much as it was last season at Castle.

“We want to consolidate in the second division this season while the main aim for the second team is to fulfil every fixture and enjoy our cricket.”
