THE "horrible sight" of a litter strewn skatepark has prompted Newtown businessman Stu Trigg to set up a litter pick on Saturday.
Stu, of Dragon UAV Aerial Photo & Video, is calling on local people to join him to give the Newtown skatepark a clean-up.
He said: "After seeing the horrible state of the Newtown skate park in terms of litter strewn around, and out of frustration that many think a Facebook comment will remedy the situation, I have arranged a litter pick at the park for Saturday.
"So far we have around a dozen volunteers, some bringing small children to help teach them about the issues of litter and local environment.
"I hope to raise public awareness and to encourage people to take physical action rather than complaining on social media !
"We are getting a positive response from the council, who are assisting with equipment and bag pick-up, and I have also contacted all local schools asking them to address the issue with the kids in assemblies etc.
"Newtown High School's headteacher has already been in touch to offer full support."
The litter pick will be happening at the Newtown skate park at 11am on Saturday, April 14. For details or to volunteer contact Stu at Dragon UAV Aerial Photo & Video, 9 Broad Street (Top Floor), Newtown. Tel 07794 525432 or email hello@dragonuav.co.uk
