A CASTING vote by the chairman was needed to secure planning permission for the controversial block of flats in Welshpool.
The vote at the planning meeting on a planning application to buildl a block of 17 flats on the site of the former Welshpool Social Club hung un the balance until planning committee chairman, Cllr David Price gave his casting vote in favour of the Mid Wales properties project.
At the meeting held at Neuadd Maldwyn in Welshpool, objections were heard from County Councillor Graham Breeze, Welshpool Town Council Clark, Robert Robinson and Michelle Reese on behalf of residents.
Powys planning officers had recommended approval.
