Green Party members in Oswestry are celebrating after their candidate, Rosie Radford, won a sixth seat on the town’s council in a by-election vote. After a vigorous campaign initiated when former Conservative councillor, Julie Edwards, stood down, Rosie, a local businesswoman and former market trader, went on to win the Cambrian Ward seat with 44 per cent of the votes.
She joins fellow Green Party councillor Nikki Hughes in Cambrian Ward, and a further four Green councillors elected to Oswestry Town Council last May.
Speaking after the count which was held at the Gatacre Pavilion Rosie said: "I am grateful to everyone who entrusted me with their vote. Oswestry badly needs a fresh approach and I’m delighted to join the growing Green team on the council to bring forward new ideas.

The results were Green Party 191, Conservative 122, Labour 80, Lib Dem 32.
