ANOTHER busy week at Bishops Castle Town hall will include a concert by a multi instrumental duo and the return of the founder of the Incredible String Band at a storytelling night.

This Saturday, March 3, sees Caractacus Downes and Lyndon Owen as Eira/Snow, the multi-instrumental duo from Monmouth who are touring the Welsh borders celebrating the majestic acoustics of churches and other venues.

They play atmospheric music drawing on Scandinavian, Celtic and Middle Eastern influences, while having their own clear new voice in contemporary music.

Having worked closely together in a variety of musical forms over the years their close understanding, improvising spirit and shared joy of playing coupled with a harsh winter demanded action.

Eira/Snow was born out of bad weather, warm fires and a long relationship and the resulting trust and understanding between two very individual multi-instrumentalists. Eira/Snow embodies a wide range of instruments giving an amazing range of timbres. Instruments include double bass, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, Armenian douduk, Turkish mey and zurnah, Hungarian tarogato, clarinet, and a range of percussion.

Tickets at £8.50 available from the Town Hall on 01588 630023.

Next Friday, March 9, sees the return of Incredible String Band man Robin Williamson with Bina at another Blast! storytelling night with songs and music.

Robin and Bina create a perfect balance of voices. Robin as a musician, storyteller and writer; Bina as an inspired and gifted singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a hauntingly sweet, melodious voice.

Their soulful performance feature their East-West harmonies, with harp, bowed psaltery and diverse other instruments.
