A large parade celebrating our patron saint has been delayed due to a risky weather forecast.

Menter Iaith Flint and Wrexham has announced their St David's Day parade, set to be held on Church Street in Flint, will be postponed until next week following the inclement weather warnings predicted for Flintshire.

The parade, which was to begin at 10am on Thursday will now take place on Wednesday, March 7, when officials hope the snow will have cleared.

According to a spokesman for Menter Iaith Maelor, the parade has become a firm fixture in the calendar in recent years with hundreds turning out on the streets to cheer the parade on.

But Flintshire patrons will have to wait another week to celebrate St David.

Flintshire schools and musicians can let their instruments and voices rest for a week as they were all set to perform a selection of Welsh-themed items and hand out small Welsh flags and daffodils to members of the public.

Chris Baglin, development officer for Menter Iaith Flint and Wrexham said: "Due to adverse weather conditions we have had to postpone the Flint St David’s day Celebration until Wednesday 7. Same routine different day. Hopefully see we will see everyone there then."
