FIRST Minister for Wales, Carwyn Jones is in Newtown today (Friday, February 16) being quizzed by a panel of Assembly members on a range of topics to do with food and drink.

Carwyn Jones was at Theatre Hafren for a meeting of the Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister.

In theses sessions the chairmen of all the other Welsh Assembly scutiny committees get together to quizz the First Minister on any matter relevant to the functions of the Welsh Government.

Each year the committee choose a different location in Wales to hold a meeting and over 30 people were there to watch the discussions.

On the agenda were items on the impact of Brexit on the Welsh food and drinks industry, promotion of Welsh food production and "Welsh brand" as well as opportunities for the AM's to ask other questions of relevance.
