Shoppers who were popping into Sainsbury’s at lunchtime last Thursday, January 25, in Welshpool were shocked to find their entry from one side of the street barred by a huge police presence.

Bystanders said that they had seen objects being thrown out of a first floor window, some had narrowly missed hitting people as they walked between the supermarket and the car park.

Several officers and vehicles were at the car park behind Sainsbury’s as they dealt with a “domestic incident”.

A woman, living opposite the supermarket on Seven Stars Road, had been throwing things out of a window, narrowly missing several passers by.

One told the County Times: “A lot of stuff including furniture has been thrown out of the window, it could have been quite dangerous if you got hit in the head by an item.”

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police, said: “Police were called to Seven Stars Road, Welshpool, shortly after 12.22pm today (25 Jan 2018) following reports of a disturbance. The incident concluded safely by 1.50pm. An ambulance also attended. A woman has been taken to hospital for a medical assessment.”
