TWO Bedstone College students are celebrating securing offers from Oxford University.

Alan Guo and Emily Kindermann are looking forward to studying at one of the world’s greatest universities in October 2018.

Alan has secured an offer from University College to study physics and local student Emily, who lives in Bucknell, has received an unconditional offer from Wadham College to study French and German. Alan is currently in the Upper Sixth at Bedstone and is studying mathematics, further mathematics and physics.

Emily completed four A levels last year and achieved A*AAB. She is now enjoying a gap year in Switzerland as a ski instructor. Both students have worked extremely hard to secure their places.

Headmaster of Bedstone College, David Gajadharsingh, is himself a graduate of the University of Oxford and said: “I am delighted for both Alan and Emily. I am acutely aware of how difficult it is to simply be invited to interview for a place at Oxford, and so for them both to receive offers is a fantastic achievement. However, I know that outcomes like this are very much a ‘team’ effort and this underlines the fact that the teaching offered at Bedstone College is of the very highest academic standard and it genuinely supports our students to fulfil their potential, whatever that may be.

“Credit must also go firstly to our head of university admissions whose advice and guidance has helped all of our students to achieve some impressive offers from some of the top universities in the UK, and also the additional support programme that we have in place for our ‘Oxbridge’ applicants. I have little doubt that others will follow in the footsteps of Alan and Emily and cement Bedstone’s place as one of the top performing non-selective schools in the region”.

Bedstone College partner, London and Oxford Group, has offered a summer internship to both students as a reward for their hard work and dedication. Alan and Emily will be given the opportunity to work in a major City of London financial institution and gain a wonderful insight into how the international banking sector operates.

Bedstone College is delighted to congratulate Alan and Emily, alongside all those preparing for a future beyond Bedstone. Ninety-three per cent of students leaving Bedstone College go on to study at university with 83 per cent of those receiving an offer from their first choice. In 2017 Bedstone College A level students received a fantastic 100 per cent pass rate across all subjects.
