MYTHS and Legends will parade through the streets of Machynlleth on Saturday when the carnival returns to town.

The 2017 Machynlleth and District Carnival parade will kick-off at 1pm on Saturday led by Abergynolwyn Silver Band.

Prior to the main day, the Carnival Queen and King, plus attendants will be crowned tonight (Friday) at Y Plas Machynlleth.

Carnival King is Kayden Heard and Carnival Queen is Cadi Speake.

A selection of fancy dress competitions will be held on carnival day with categories for all age groups along with best decorated pram or bike.

Floats will assemble at the Railway Station on the Saturday at 12.30pm for judging.

Meanwhile the Walkers will assemble at Mid Wales Storage.

From 2pm onwards there will be entertainment and events in Y Plas Grounds.

These include: a fun fair, refreshments, a licensed bar, live entertainment and competition results.

Earlier in Carnival Week, 5-a-side football will be held at Cae Glas Field on July 16.

Juniors at 11.30am and seniors at 1pm.

This will be followed by a quiz night in the White Lion from 7pm.

Teams of four, with team entry of £10.

On Tuesday, July 18, a Round The Town Quiz will start at Y Plas at 6pm.

Entry is £1 per quiz sheet.

That is not all though, as a Pram Race will burn rubber or small plastic wheels at least on Thursday, July 20.

The race will be at West Lodge, Norbury Lodge and Y Plas.

Juniors starting at 6pm (£1 a team), seniors at 7pm (£3 a team).
