EMILY Lloyd Whittington will represent England in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Potchefstroom, South Africa later this year.
The 20 year old student, a former pupil of Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd in Newtown and Llanfair Caereinion High School, took up the sport less than a year ago but has enjoyed immediate success.
Lloyd Whittington was crowned English junior under 63kg champion in May after breaking national records with a 135kg squat, 72.5kg bench and 160kg dead lift.
Later this month the Manchester based athlete represents the North West against Lancashire in the Roses Cup and will also be competing in the British Junior Classic Championships in Scotland the month after her trip to South Africa in October.
