CARNO have signalled their Spar Mid Wales League One ambitions with five major signings.

Manager Chris Davies hailed the cast of new arrivals led by defender Tom Richards who returns to his home village club after six seasons at Caersws.

Richards is joined by midfielder Scott Williams in returning to Ty Brith following three seasons spent playing in the Huws Gray Alliance with Caersws.

Defender Dan Goodman also returns to Carno for a second spell after playing a key role in Rhayader Town’s march to Spar Mid Wales League One honours last season.

Former Wales under 18s goalkeeper Steffan Jones has also signed following spells with Dyffryn Banw, Welshpool Town and Llanfair United in recent years with the quintet of new faces completed by defender Adam Williams who returns to the club after impressing for Abermule last season.

Davies said: “I am delighted with these signings and shows our intentions from the off.

“I have tried to bring Tom back to Carno a few times over the years so I am thankful it has finally happened while Scott is another exciting signing for the club.

“I’m very happy to bring Dan back to the club, he played a massive part of our success in his previous spell here and brings with him experience and character in the dressing room.

“Adam is experienced, reliable and has a winning mentality, just the type of player we want at Carno while Steff is a top quality keeper who will add competition for places.”

The new arrivals offset the departing Richie Evans, Drew Reynolds and Ashley Owen who joined local rivals Llanidloes Town earlier this month.
