BISHOPS Castle kick started their season with a welcome 31 run victory at home to Wellington IIIs in division two of the Henshalls Shropshire League.
Castle posted an imposing 213-9 to defend with opener Richard Plant starring with a season’s best knock of 95 with support from Tom Moulder (22) and Jack Perry (25).
Muhamammad Wasif (3-16) starred for Wellington with Dan Pitchford (2-35) and David Ross (2-48) also claiming wickets.
Perry (2-28) and Moulder (2-40) included the key wickets of openers Luke Goring (20) and Sean Ward-Clayton (32) before Steve Pitchford revived the Welly innings with a top scoring 49.
Pitchford was joined by Dan Pitchford and Ward-Clayton in pinning together the middle order before being caught by Paul Cottrell off Richard Powell (1-26).
Richard Plant accounted for Dan Pitchford, caught by Andrew Lewis for 20, before Ward-Clayton was caught by Moulder off George Rayment (3-19) for 23 to end Wellington's challenge for 182.
