Henshalls Shrop Division One
Montgomery 234 for 9 beat
Wroxeter Grove 140 all out by 94 runs
MONTGOMERY maintained their climb up the first division table with an emphatic 94 run victory at home to Wroxeter Grove.
Monty’s victory was founded on a fine top order batting display with the inform Aaron Ruff-Cock joined by Andrew Barker in a fruitful first wicket stand.
Barker (28) and captain Sam Williams (15) departed to Matt Smart (2-29) after playing supporting roles to Ruff-Cock who was bowled by Matt Ramsay (1-31) for 51.
Corfield carried on the good work and was joined by Ieuan Griffiths in working the scoreboard, aided by Grove’s wasteful bowling which also yielded 29 extras.
Both would eventually be run out with Griffiths departing for 25 while Corfield was sent back to the pavilion for a top scoring 65.
Dan Harris (2-42) accounted for the tail end resistance but was unable to dislodge Alex Bromley (12no) and Ed Bennett (4no) who guided Monty to 234-9 to defend.
Monty tore through the Grove top order in reply wuth opener Adie Eley run out by Joe Haycock for a duck before Corfield and Harry Wilkinson (1-20) struck to dismiss Richard Evason and Matt Bevan for ducks.
Rory Hawes and Charlie Haylett offered resistance until the latter was bowled by Bromley (1-29) for 32 while Corfield caught and bowled Hawes for a top scoring 60.
Corfield (4-10) was joined by Haycock (1-23) and Rob Yewdall (1-9) in polishing off the tail and completing Grove’s demise for 140.
