Henshalls Shrop Div One

Welshpool 156 for 8 beat

Shelton 155 all out by 2 wickets

WELSHPOOL celebrated a hard fought two wicket win at Shelton to maintain their upward trajectory in the first division of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Rob Anderson made a key contribution, taking three wickets before forming a ninth wicket stand with Patrick Davies to guide Pool to glory in the 43rd over of their reply.

Joe Monk (3-29) also starred, dismissing Harry Jones and Zeke Mellor for ducks before celebrating the prize wicket of surviving opener Mark Davies for 31.

Rob Anderson (3-17) took on the Shelton middle order, claiming Sam Matthews (24) and Ben Chambers (19) before celebrating the key wicket of Alex Salisbury for a top scoring 45.

Brother Tom Anderson (2-23) polished off the tail to complete Shelton’s demise for just 155.

Joe Timmis (2-26) drew early blood in reply with opener Monk snared LBW for one before veteran Russell Cadwallader was caught for 10.

However surviving opener Paul Chapman and Matthew Knight laid the foundations for victory with a fruitful third wicket stand.

Both would eventually fall to Sam Jones (6-28) with Chapman snared LBW for 43 while Knight was caught for 36 as the middle and tail end came to wobble.

However Davies (27no) steadied the ship and was joined by Rob Anderson (9no) in an unbroken ninth wicket partnership to guide Pool to 156-8 and victory.
