Henshalls Shrop Div One
Montgomery 153 for 5 beat
Lilleshall 150 all out by 5 wickets
AARON Ruff-Cock starred with bat and ball as Montgomery toasted a five wicket win at basement side Lilleshall in division one of the Henshalls Shropshire League.
Ruff-Cock (3-27) supported Alex Bromley (3-23) in dominating the bowling with James Corfield (2-13) and Joe Haycock (2-14) also in fine form as Lilleshall fell for just 150.
Bromley drew first blood with opener James Gant caught by Harry Wilkinson for seven before Ruff-Cock opened his account with Ian Dawes caught by Rob Bennett for four.
Ruff-Cock also celebrated the dismissal of surviving opener Tom Mackriel, caught by Tim Davies for 22.
Bromley and Ruff-Cock continued to erode the middle order while Oli Todd was dislodged for a top scoring 43, stumped by Rob Bennett off Haycock.
Corfield polished off Charlie Conquest’s tail end resistance, caught by Bennett for 21, to complete Lilleshall’s fall for 150.
Monty suffered a stuttering start to their reply as opener Tim Davies and Andrew Barker (14) both fell to Conquest (2-20) before Ruff-Cock was joined by Corfield for the third wicket.
The pair combined to push Monty toward their set target before Corfield was caught by Todd off Richie Harris (2-25) for 39.
Despite suffering a middle order wobble as Ieuan Griffiths, Patrick Wilding and Rob Bennett all departed cheaply, Ruff-Cock carried his bat with a top scoring 67 to guide Montgomery to 153-5 and victory in the 21st over.
