Henshalls Shrop Lge Division Four

GUILSFIELD and Llandrinio slipped to a disappointing 30 run defeat at Hinstock in division four of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

The Guils were made to pay for their poor bowling display, yielding 54 extras to their hosts who would post 252-9 to defend.

Dan Brown (1-34) and Gary Meredith (1-47) claimed early wickets before Rhodri Davies struck to claim the wicket of Sam Folwell (29).

However Ian Walton led the middle order, including nine four's in his top scoring knock of 52 before being caught by Gary Lewis off Barney Pitt (1-25).

Davies (3-36) was joined by Jordan Evans (2-51) in accounting for Phil Clowsley (30) and Durga Kante (33) before Hayden Goodwin (11no) and Ben Buchan (11no) steered Hinstock to 252-9 to defend.

The Guils challenge started brightly with openers Lewis (54) and Pitt (53) laying the foundations of a challenge.

However Walton (2-33) and David Cobham (2-25) claimed vital wickets before Kante (2-13) toppled both Gary Lewis (54) and Dan Lewis (48) in quick succession as the Guils fell for 222.

Meanwhile Alberbury IIIs slipped to a 91 run defeat at Cound IIIs in division one of the Henshalls Shropshire Sunday League.

Despite the best efforts of Owain Roberts (3-55) the hosts posted 232-5 to defend courtesy of Rob Matravers (59no) and supporting knocks from Chris Campbell (54), Dave Farrell (36) and Mel Parry (28no).

David Butler carried the Alberbury challenge which was undermined by Josh Hyde (4-14) who tore through the middle order.

Butler (41) and tail ender Roberts (34) both fell to Alistair Borrett (2-29) before Parry (1-10) dismissed Gareth Phillips (21) to complete Alberbury’s fall for 141 in the 27th over.
