Montgomery 149 all out lost to

Bomere Heath 151 all out by 2 runs

MONTGOMERY handed first division leaders Bomere Heath an almighty fright before falling to a run defeat at Lymore.

James Corfield underlined his class with two early wickets en route to his season’s best 4-6 with Travis Keys and Rob Dean both removed for ducks.

Heath were revived by a 73 run third wicket stand between Charles Wigley and Adam Vanner before Wigley was stumped by Rob Bennett off Aaron Ruff-Cock for 38.

Ruff-Cock completed his 2-25 with the prompt snaring of Sam Bloor LBW for a duck with Henry Dawson also caught for a duck by Bennett off Harry Wilkinson to leave Heath wobbling on 79-5.

Vanner was joined by Chris Stevens in a 48 run sixth wicket partnership before Vanner was finally bowled by Alex Bromley (1-40) for 35.

Corfield would return to the fray to terrorise the tail as Darren Nudds and Jamie Dean departed cheaply before Wilkinson (3-35) celebrated the wicket of Stevens for a top scoring 43 to leave Heath defending just 151.

Despite the cheap loss of opener Tim Davies, bowled by Stevens for 11, the Monty reply was built on a promising foundation laid by the rest of the top order.

Ruff-Cock was joined by Sam Williams in a 29 run second wicket partnership before departing for 30 to Stevens.

Corfield (3) and Bromley (0) both departed cheaply either side of William’s dismissal, run out by Dean for 26, to leave Monty wobbling on 86-5.

Ieuan Griffiths looked to pin the innings together but the Rob Bennett was caught by Dean off Sam Bloor (1-54), leaving Griffiths to be joined by the tail enders.

Griffiths looked to establish a partnership and was joined by Joe Haycock (7) and Gareth Griffiths (8) before both departed to Stevens (4-29) and Dawson (3-24).

Griffiths (33no) and Ed Bennett looked to push Monty over the line in a final wicket stand, only for the latter to be run out by Stevens for one to leave Monty all out for 149.
