A Forden Primary School pupil has made his mark on the village as his badge will now be the official logo for the newly reformed Forden United. The new club has risen from the ashes, under the guidance of manager Jonny Roberts, born and bred in Forden. His first task was to design a new logo and thanks to the help from Forden Primary School they now have one. Sam Cadwallader’s design was chosen as the winner and his logo will now be etched into the village’s history and the club’s new kit. The iniaitive is one of many steps to involve the community in the ambitious football club. Jonny said: “I approached the school and they were great with it. “The kids were told to think of things regarding Forden when designing the logo and they have done. It went to the designer James Batten and he was okay with it, so Sam had the winning design. “We’ve re-launched the club and we are coming up with ideas to get more youngsters, and the village involved with the club.” With the logo, the rooster represents The Cock Inn pub, the compass represents The Compass pub, and the hat is representative of the railway that used to run through the village. Jonny is hoping the club becomes more sustainable this time around, with a bolstered committee, and the community on board. He added: “We wanted to make it is more sustainable, so if people want to step aside, there will be people there to keep things going. “We’ve got the Vaughan Jones Memorial Cup and a horse racing evening all planned.”
