Cambrian Training Mid Wales Shield final
COBRA 17
Welshpool 0
COBRA lifted the Cambrian Training Mid Wales Shield with victory over local rivals Welshpool at Cae Hafren on Saturday.
The match represented the end of the Mid Wales season and first of two district cup finals hosted by Llanidloes Rugby Club in front of bumper crowds last weekend.
Pool fielded a largely second string but matched their derby rivals well despite the Meifod side establishing a 17 point interval lead.
Nico Williams and Sion Wyn Williams both celebrated tries with both converted by Will Worthington who completed his haul with a penalty.
The second-half saw no further scoring as COBRA saw out the game to retain the shield for a second successive season.
