Ruthin Town 2
Guilsfield 2
GUILSFIELD were twice pegged back as a resolute Ruthin Town hit back for a point at the Memorial Field.
Home manager Chris Williams received his manager of the month award prior to kick-off having been recognised for masterminding their climb to safety.
With little to play for but pride for both sides the first-half failed to sparkle as the strong winds hampered both sets of players.
However the match burst into life with two goals in as many minutes near the end of the half with the Guils leading when Jake Cook slotted home Adam Jenkins’ flick on for a 40th minute opener.
Just a minute later and the hosts were level when a long ball into the Guils area failed to be cleared with ex-Bow Street player Garmon Hafal heading home.
The Guils were back in front five minutes into the second-half with defender Robbie James steering home Cook’s corner.
Guilsfield looked to build on their lead and dominated the remainder of the contest while failing to put the game to bed and were punished with 15 minutes remaining when Will Owen capitalised on a defensive lapse to level.
Guilsfield travel to Llanfair United this weekend in their final game of the season aiming for derby victory which would see them secure a top half finish.
GUILSFIELD: Littleford, Bromley, Richards, Rogers, Litchfield, James, Irvine, Jones, Jenkins, Leonard, Cook. Subs: Barton, Lloyd, Andrew
