NICK Howells has refused to excuse his players after Builth Wells produced a sub par display in their defeat at home to Ammanford last weekend.

The 27-15 defeat hammered another nail into Builth’s coffin in their season long battle against relegation from division one west central of the Swalec League.

Coach Howells promised the Bulls would be giving their all in their remaining games but conceded survival would be a tall order following a disappointing defeat last week.

Howells did not hold back in his criticism of his players following an ill disciplined and error strewn display.

“The result has now put serious pressure on us to perform in our remaining games but one thing I do promise we will give 100 per cent until the end,” said Howells.

“We now go to Trebanos this Saturday who are a very good team at home knowing we must win.

“This week will be all about how we react as a team from last week's disappointment, I believe in everyone and the abilities of this squad but after last week I found myself questioning whether they believe in themselves.

“It was such a disappointing display and at times we looked like we didn't know each other. This team is young but some of them really need a reality check and have a honest look at themselves after last week.”

Meanwhile local rivals Rhayader hope their gallant performance in defeat at Bettws in Swalec Division Three East D can provide a springboard for the rest of the season.

The Rams made the trip with just 13 men but almost pulled off an unlikely victory in Gwent to fill the squad with confidence ahead of their final four league games.
