TNS manager Craig Harrison has admitted he faces a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s JD Welsh Cup semi-final against Gap Connah’s Quay.

The Saints head to Bangor to face the Deesiders in the first of Saturday’s semi-finals with Harrison conceding he had a tough task in selecting his squad.

“It’s been hard picking a bench for Saturday,” said Harrison whose side will bid to avenge a league defeat at the hands of Deesiders 10 days ago.

“Since I’ve been at the club we’ve had good competition for places and obviously we’ve won the league comfortably in the past six years.

“That can breed complacency but that goes away if you don’t play well for one or two games and you don’t train well and players of equal quality will come in.

Harrison insisted he won’t be making special plans to face the Deesiders after their shock 2-1 defeat at the Deeside Stadium earlier in the month.

Harrison said: “We’ll train hard on Monday to Wednesday and the lads will be off on Thursday, which they always are before a short, sharp session on Friday before playing on Saturday.

“We’ll go out there and play our own game. Connah’s Quay will try to bully us, be direct and get in our faces but it’s important to not get drawn into a battle while we deal with that because we’re not that way inclined.

“We’ll beat anyone with football and have to make sure we have to stick to our plan.

“I’ll be picking a team to go out there to play football. I know 10 of my 11 and will see how training goes this week.

“With the players and staff we’ve got, I’m confident every week. That’s not cocky or arrogant but we’ve had some big games in Europe, to win leagues and cups and have some big game players.”

The winners will proceed to face either Caernarfon Town or Bala Town in the final to be held in Bangor on Sunday, April 30.

Meanwhile defender Ryan Pryce has been spending the week in the build-up to the semi-final in training with English Premiership side Middlesbrough.

The 19 year old full back has won praise for his consistent displays for the Saints with Stoke City and Sunderland also tracking his progress.
