N Wales Div Two East
LLANIDLOES proved no match for Dolgellau who stormed to a 24-0 victory in the second division opener at Cae Marian.
The newly merged second division, comprising of the top finishers from division two east and west, saw Llanidloes immediately feel the step up in class.
Early mistakes were punished as second row Berwyn Hughes and scrum-half Jac Roberts linked to release wing Rob Pugh for the opening try on 14 minutes.
Dolgellau soon increased their lead when wing Rhys Lewis broke from the halfway line to cross for a try with Gerwyn Thomas adding the conversion.
Dolgellau settled the contest early in the second-half when prop Geraint Evans went over for a pushover try following a five metre scrum with Thomas adding the extras.
Llanidloes frustrated their hosts for much of the remainder of the second-half but with five minutes remaining lost No8 Richard Jones and captain Paul Jehu to the sin bin.
With a two man advantage the hosts sealed their bonus point win as Thomas and centre Dylan Evans combined to release centre Gareth Hughes to complete the scoring.
Meanwhile Welshpool’s third division east clash with Machynlleth was postponed.
