HEALTH secretary Jeremy Hunt met health campaigners in Montgomeryshire today.
Glyn Davies, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Montgomeryshire, today welcomed Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt to Newtown, who met with local people campaigning to keep Accident & Emergency services in Shrewsbury.
Glyn Davies invited Mr Hunt to spend an hour with local health campaigners and groups to hear their concerns over the future of A&E services in Shropshire, which the UK Health Secretary has responsibility for and on which much of Montgomeryshire depends. Mr Hunt heard a unanimous call that A&E, delivered through a new Emergency Centre, should be located in Shrewsbury rather than Telford.
Commenting on Mr Hunt's visit to Montgomeryshire, Glyn Davies said:
“I am very pleased that Jeremy Hunt has come to Newtown, and listened to the grave concerns that local people have about access to health care for Montgomeryshire patients in future years. Over the last few years I have raised this issue with the Secretary of State for Health several times, but I wanted him to hear it from the people as well."
