BRECON and Radnor NFU Cymru is to host a hustings meeting for local prospective AMs from the main political parties, ahead of the National Assembly Election on May 5.

Open to all farmers in Brecon and Radnor, the meeting will be held at Carregffynnon Farm, through the kindness of Gareth Jones and family, at 11am on Thursday, April 21.

The event is set to give farmers in the constituency an opportunity to quiz the prospective AMs on their party’s agricultural and rural policies.

“The majority of farming issues are now determined by a devolved government, which highlights the important role our local Assembly Members play in representing the interests of Welsh farmers, on a number of crucial issues,” commented Brecon and Radnor NFU county chair, Gwyn Price.

“With a National Assembly election less than a month away, and the possibility that we could be facing a different political landscape, the prospective candidates now have the opportunity to set out their stall and justify why they are the best candidate for Brecon and Radnor.

“The meeting will also give our members the opportunity to test the awareness amongst the candidates of the main issues affecting our industry.
“I hope to see a good turnout of farmers at our on-farm hustings event, just as I hope to see a good turnout of our prospective AMs at our event,” he added.
