A SUSTAINABLE car is being developed in Mid Wales.

The Llandrindod Transition Group is holding a special meeting to find out all about it on Tuesday, April 28, from 7pm to 9pm at the Herb Garden Café, Llandrindod Wells.

Hugo Spowers, leading designer and engineer with Riversimple, will be giving a presentation on their work to develop a truly sustainable vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

Ground-breaking efficient and affordable motoring, Riversimple have a simple objective: mobility at zero cost to the planet.

They moved their research and development operation to Llandrindod towards the end of 2014, and expect to have vehicles ready for pilot operation within the coming year.

Their demonstrator vehicle achieves the equivalent of 300mpg and emits nothing more than a teaspoonful of water on long journeys.

New business model Riversimple are also taking a fresh approach by offering mobility as a service.

Instead of selling their cars, for a fixed monthly fee their customer will receive a car and all the fuel, insurance, maintenance to run it.

The Llandrindod Transition Town Group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7pm to 9pm in the Herb Garden Café, Llandrindod.

The meetings are open to all, with free admittance (including hot drink and cake), a speaker or films and discussion.

If anyone has an idea for low carbon, resilient Llandrindod that they want to put into action, or if they would like to help with events, activities and projects and meet like-minded people, the group want to hear from them.
