A FORMER Welshpool High School pupil has quit his nine-to-five job and opened a musical theatre company in Shrewsbury.
James Broxton, 26, and his business partner Ross Wigley, created ‘Get Your Wigle On’ three years ago and have since put on a number of hit shows at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn, including High School Musical, Fame, Into The Woods and Little Shop Of Horrors.
Due to the success of these shows, the two friends have taken the plunge and turned what started as a hobby into a full-time business adventure.
“We want to inspire and provide young and old with the opportunity to perform and explore theatre in many forms,” explained James, a one-to-one vocal coach.
“We are both extremely passionate and want to become the best place in the county for what we do.”
The latest Get You Wigle On production – Wizard of OZ – features 35 adults and 30 children and is set to be shown in the main auditorium at Theatre Severn, between July 18 and 21.
Get Your Wigle On is also offering an opportunity for budding actors and actresses the chance to develop their skills with a wide variety of classes at their new studio at Castle Forgate Business Park in Shrewsbury.
“Our studio has allowed us to expand our company so we are able to offer loads of different classes,” continued James.
“We have classes for juniors, teens and adults in drama, musical theatre, singing and dance. We are also offering the opportunity for our students to enter their exams. We even do zumba classes after both Ross and I recently became official zumba instructors.
“For youngsters aged between seven and 16-years-old we are running three two week summer schools (July 23 – August 3, August 6 – 17 and August 20 – 31). The lessons will cover musical theatre, acting, dance and singing and all work towards a mini-showcase at the end.”
