A 4X4 vehicle was "well alight" in Newtown last night (July 9), blocking the A483 to Llandrindod Wells for around half an hour.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 5.08pm that a 4x4 was on fire and two crews from Newtown Fire Station just down the road were dispatched. A thermal imaging camera was also used.

The stop time was 5.29pm, the Fire Service confirmed.

Dyfed-Powys Police also attended and put up a cordon around the vehicle, which was recovered shortly after 6pm. No further action is being taken by the police at this time.
