GET hands on with history, thanks to the Festival of British Archaeology 2012 (July 14-21).
Join staff from the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust (CPAT) in celebrating the Festival of British Archaeology 2012 at two events being held in Powys.
On Saturday, July 14, staff from CPAT, in partnership with the Elan Valley Trust, will be hosting a fun-filled day of activities at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre near Rhayader (Grid Reference: SN928646, Postcode: LD6 5HP).
There will be things to make and do, plus the chance to have a go at excavation. The event is totally free and the doors will be open between 10am and 4pm. All are welcome and there will be staff on hand to help and to answer any questions you may have.
Then on Saturday, July 21, there’s the chance to join an archaeologist from CPAT on a free guided walk around Montgomery Castle (Grid Reference: SO221967, Postcode: SY15 6HN). Hear about its eventful history and some of the artefacts found there during past excavations. Meet at the castle at 10.30am.
The Festival of British Archaeology is co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology, an educational charity promoting archaeology for all, and is supported by Cadw and English Heritage.
