DNA confirms identity of Lake Vyrnwy body

DYFED Powys Police have confirmed they know the identity of a body recovered from Rhiwagor Waterfalls near Llanwddyn on Wednesday, May 23. 

He has not been named, as efforts to trace his next of kin continue.  H M Coroner has been informed.   

“The deceased was living in Powys before his death but there had been no reports of concern for his safety,” said Detective Inspector Diane Davies.

“Following local, national and international appeals to identify the deceased, three separate reports were received from members of the public who all named the same person. 

"His identity has been confirmed through DNA.

“We have been working through missing person enquiries from police forces throughout England and Wales as well as Europe and the southern hemisphere.”
