GREAT Oak Street will once again be the hub of the town on June 16, when more than 20 antique and flea market stalls will line up with all the current market favourites and a charity stall.

The Llanidloes Charter Market (LCM) Committee has a variety of entertainments to keep everyone entertained.

When the market looked as if it might run out of steam, the town council began looking for an organisation to take over. After its first meeting a small group of business people, organisations and residents set up a committee in the hope of saving the market.

Both the town council and Llani Limited have given support and encouragement, with the town council giving financial support if the committee could match-fund it.

Trudy Davies, treasurer, was delighted when an application for funding to Glasu was successful and the committee was able to go ahead with buying new stalls and have posters and leaflets printed.

Many businesses and individuals have provided help in getting the committee this far and a sponsors board will be placed on the market to thank all those who have helped. The committee said it wants to help young entrepreneurs and start-up businesses by providing an outlet for their products. The committee has put in place a free stall for local organisations to fundraise, allocated on a first come first served basis.

The committee has a number of events planned over the summer starting with a Country Market on June 30. For more information call Dave Cannon (bookings officer) on 07917 352196; Garfield Evans (chairman) on 07971 069174; or visit www.llanidloesmarket.co.uk
