AS the day the Olympic Torch relay arrives in Gwynedd draws closer Gwynedd Council has announced the road restrictions that will be in place as the Torch travels through ten of Gwynedd’s villages and towns on Monday, May 28.
Gwynedd Council’s chief engineer for transportation and street care, Dafydd Wyn Williams said: “We would advise residents who are travelling on the same route as the torch to leave extra time for their journey, and for those who are travelling to see the flame should try and get to the location an hour before the event.”
No-one can take any vehicle on any of the roads below during the times stated.
Caernarfon, from 4pm to 5.50pm:
A487 (from the roundabout by St Helen’s Road to the roundabout under the flyover)
Penllyn Street (from the roundabout under the flyover to the junction with Bridge Street)
Bridge Street (from the junction with Pool Side to Castle Square)
Castle Square (from the junction with Bridge Street to the junction with Castle Hill)
Castle Hill (to the junction with Castle Ditch)
Castle Ditch, Castle Street, and Market Street, Bank Quay (from the junction with Market Street to the junction with Balaclava Road) and Balaclava Road.
North Road (from the roundabout by Alexandra Terrace to the junction with Cae Gwyn Road)
Y Felinheli, between 5pm and 6.30pm:
Caernarfon Road and Bangor Street.
Bangor, between 5pm and 7.30pm:
Holyhead Road (from the junction with Siliwen Road to the junction with Deiniol Road)
Deiniol Road, Garth Road and Beach Road (from the junction with Garth Road to the junction with the High Street)
High Street (from the junction with Beach Road to the junction with Caernarfon Road)
Caernarfon Road (from the junction with the High Street to the roundabout opposite Menai Retail Park).
