REBORN pop group Steps have been given extra bling by an award-winning ceramic artist from Conwy.

The jewellery is made by Catrin Mostyn Jones, who is a friend of group member Ian 'H' Watkins and his partner, West End actor, Craig Ryder, who live in the area.

Pop star H said: "Catrin's designs are so exciting and original.”

The group were wearing the jewellery on their sell-out reunion tour after Catrin, 35, from Maenan, was approached last year by a Steps' stylist in London and asked to create some broaches and some bangles for the group.

Catrin said: “The fact that Steps are wearing my jewellery on tour in front of hundreds of thousands of people is a brilliant showcase for my business, Vivid Ceramics.”

She added none of this would have been possible without the help her company has received from the rural regeneration agency, Conwy Rural Business Support.

It provides a free service to micro businesses employing 10 or less people, offering advice, marketing opportunities and practical guidance on how to secure funding.

Anna Openshaw, project officer for Conwy Rural Business Support, said it's been immensely rewarding to see Vivid Ceramics flourish under their guidance.
“It’s really satisfying seeing creative people like Catrin being successful and developing their business,” she said. “The fact that her jewellery is being worn by Steps is really exciting."

Apart from the jewellery, Catrin makes wall hangings, free standing sculptures, lighting and public art.
