MOCHDRE Sports have bagged a place in the knock-out round Auxilliary Cup after winning four of their six league matches.
Sports went top of Group B with a 3-1 win over Halkyn United, courtesy of two Shaun Heap goals and a Danny Ashe strike, and held on to top spot despite losing their final game 4-1 to Halkyn, with Matt Gilmour on target.
The results mean Mochdre will tackle either Group A’s Shotton Steel or Connah’s Quay Tigers, who played eachother for the right last night, on May 1.
Rhos United’s challenge fell flat with a 4-0 defeat to Shotton Steel, whilst Betws yn Rhos took a point from a 1-1 draw with Connah’s Quay Tigers, with James Cody, who also netted in a 2-1 defeat to Steel, on the scoresheet.
West Shore beat Prestatyn Rovers Reserves 3-2, and lost out 1-0 to Mostyn Dragons, and are in a race with Acton Village to reach the knock-out stages, with matches against Mostyn Dragons and their second placed rivals remaining.
Llandudno Junction ended their 2011/12 Welsh Alliance campaign on a high with a 6-1 thrashing of Barmouth and Dyffryn.
Despite going a goal down after two minutes, Junction came through courtesy of a Danny Jones hattrick and one each from Victor Jones and Mark Montgomery.
Glan Conwy lost out 1-0 to Bodedern Athletic, but have three matches left to finish the season on a high.
