PLANS to move large loads of wind farm components, causing road blocks across Powys has been cancelled.

Roads across Montgomeryshire were due to be shut at various times today to allow large loads of wind farm components to be transported.

The length of the A483 between Llanymynech and Newtown, the A489 from Newtown to Caersws, the A470 from Caersws to Llangruig and the A44 from Llangruig to Ponterwyd in Ceredigion were all subject to intermittent closures.

A notice of from the Welsh Government said: "The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, other than exempted vehicles and person, from proceeding along pinch points in the lengths of the trunk roads."

The prohibitions were due to come into force between 7am - 7pm on today (Friday, April 13)

A spokesman for Powys County Council said that the transportation would not happen in April because a police escort could not be provided, but said that  it is likely the transportation of the blades would take place in early May.
