AN EASTER arts festival will be held at a former Colwyn Bay hotel.
The Engedi Easter story exhibition will begin at the Imperial hotel with an open evening at 7.30pm on Friday, March 30.
The aim of the week-long event is to bring members of the public together with artists, musicians and poets from across the UK to showcase the themes of the Easter season through a variety of exhibits.
On offer throughout the week will be creative writing workshops held by TAPE Community Music and Film, a jazz night, lectures from guest artists, a poetry evening and an acoustic music night held by the organisers of the Ymuno festival.
Organiser Gavin Mart said he devised the festival after fears that community arts events were as neglected as older social hotspots, such as the Imperial, and that the response from the public had been very positive.
He said: "We have been overwhelmed by the community’s response to the idea of hosting a mixed media gathering to celebrate Easter through the arts.
"We have received nothing but support locally and we’re extremely excited to be presenting such an event here in the Bay."
He added: "People have been peeking through the window and asking what’s going on - we can’t wait to show them.”
