Jamie Breese evades a Scott Jones tackle

Llanidloes Town 4 Welshpool 0

LLANIDLOES Town made light work of a Welshpool side intent on self destruction.

Despite the Lilywhites promising start, their challenge was undermined by a suicidal challenge from Craig Pearce which brought Karl Seliaerts crashing to the turf.

The resulting 25th minute penalty was confidently despatched by Gareth Mansell as Llanidloes opened a lead they never looked like losing.

Welshpool set themselves up to defend in numbers but the game-plan went out the window after Mansell broke the deadlock, with Seliaerts doubling the lead before half-time after being released by Jamie Breese.

Welshpool goalkeeper Calum Henegan made a string of five saves to prevent Llanidloes running away with the points after the interval, but was powerless to prevent the eventual third.

Mansell’s corner left the Pool defence stranded as Jack Bermingham netted from close range

Breese completed the scoring late on after latching onto a Seliearts throughball, before neatly beating the keeper for his 21st goal of the season.

Pool finished the game with 10 men after substitute Mike Jones saw red for a two footed lunge just seconds after taking the field.

Warren Sherwood went close to increasing the lead while Mansell also headed against the bar from a corner, as Llanidloes Town ended the game thoroughly on top.
